After switching to mounting my iPad on a tripod (with the Lifthor tablet mount) and using a 6ft USB cable, I'm probably rarely going to attach any device directly to the tiny Evo II controller...Depending on your flying context, obviously, but I'd suggest trying that approach!

I have thought that the steps you outline above to resume a mission after returning to change batteries are as clear as can be. No, its not documented anywhere, but a quick test showed the ways the app. would prompt to resume and pick up exactly where it left off (note the "pause" icon inserted...

While I have not had a problem with getting the motors to shut down quickly by holding the down stick down (and I just hold my hand underneath the EVO without grasping with my claws), I do find it far easier to do when I have my controller mounted in my LifThor tablet mount and my lanyard...

I have loaded individual .jpgs directly from my SD card into ArcGIS, and the embedded coordinates allow the software to position the center of the image correct, but oriented incorrectly (e.g. north up, even if the drone was facing another direction----and then had to manually reorient each one...
