    Cheap landing pad

I usually just roll it up and I don’t normally fly too far from my car. If I were taking my bird on a hiking trip, I might opt for something lighter. Sadly, drones are a no go most places I hike.

    Cheap landing pad

Green Round Door Mat (Common: 36-in x 36-in; Actual: 36-in x 36-in) https://www.lowes.com/pd/Mohawk-Home-Green-Round-Door-Mat-Common-36-in-x-36-in-Actual-36-in-x-36-in/1000183925 This one is heavy enough any wind you should be flying in won’t blow it around. It’s a seasonal item to go under...

    Flying Drones in a TFR!

It’s guys like this who screw things up for everyone else.

    Launching and landing surface

More to OP’s original question, I use a Christmas tree floor pad for my landing pad, it’s heavy enough to stay put in any wind I need to be flying in, keeps dust and dirt from blowing up and getting into motors or nicking props, etc. Green Round Door Mat (Common: 36-in x 36-in; Actual: 36-in x...

I just found the Evo's Underwater Brother

Effective control distance in water is only 32’. [emoji20]

I just found the Evo's Underwater Brother

I wonder that some sort of sonic/sonar control system isn’t possible.

Search for missing woman using Evo

I would encourage anyone interested in this subject to connect with the Drone SAR folks at https://www.dronesar.info/training . They seem to have their ducks in a row on this subject and offer training as well. It is important to coordinate with the incident command to avoid low flying search...

    Storing batteries

I think the idea with LiPo batteries is to limit the amount of oxygen that can get to them and further combustion. Some ovens are vented, so you might get a lot of smoke, but the combustion should be contained. So long as one one accidentally turns the oven on... that would tend to suck.

    Line-of-Sight past 1 mile?

I’m using https://aerial-pixel.com/dronepilots/index.html?devicelock=desktop#!/Autel-EVO-LED-Strobe-Light-Mount-for-STROBON-Cree-Flytron-and-Firehouse-Technology/p/125322105/category=23668079 with the Firehouse ARC II’s for red and green with a white on top.

    What do you consider "windy?"

I’m wondering if the difference is whether the wind is steady and constant or gusting. I’ve flown my bird in 11 mph wind without any problems, but have seen it struggle in less on days when the wind was shifting speed and direction.

Which 107 prep course is best?

I’m thinking it’s about that time, any advice would be welcomed. Pros and cons appreciated.

Unique ways to get use out of that drone.

Another concern is whether the bees have been there long enough to establish a significant amount of honeycomb in a wall, soffit or ceiling void. While the bees are there, they actually work to keep it cool. Once they are gone, it can melt and get everywhere, as well as act to attract roaches...

    Goodbye my dear Evo

Don’t discount @thomasr ‘s suggestion that radar may have impacted your drone. I’ve heard about drones having their electronics fried by flying to close to broadcast towers as well as scuttlebutt about sailors being barbecued by shipborne radar systems.

Raptor XR designed for Autel Evo

Hmmm... once you got you antennae to RP-SMA connectors you could do all kinds of cool things with them. Want to remote mount them on a 30’ telescopic mast to reduce interference from trees? I wonder if you could use WiFi antennas with them? They are both 2.4 gigahertz right?

Would you install a headlamp for your drone?

Hmmm... Inspire 1 dual searchlight mount
