V.1 Smart Controllers limited supply

Received my V1 SC from Empire Drones this week. It seems all retailers in the US got a bunch of them at once after those units have been in back order for more than half a year. So all the fuzz about the original SC being end of life and V1 aircraft owners were being ignored turns out to be bullocks..

Smart move Autel! But why did no one simply pre inform the client base?

yeah i remember the huge outcry claiming autel was making a mistake, ignoring their customers, not giving everyone a chance. yet here we are with v1 units ready to buy a msrp yet no takers. very few takers, you would think they would fly off the shelf.

one of the v1 flew my way from Advexure (CA to WA) in 5 days. the only annoying part of it was watching the UPS geo-map of the little brown truck meandering around my neighborhood based on a 3 hr window and never ONCE....making a direct path to my house even though it was only a block or two several times. haha

yeah i see that all the time; it's so annoying. i've gotten use to expecting delivery at the very end of that window as im never at the front.

I see now that you can buy premium customer status for deliveries with smaller window. Too rich for me so I'll just learn patience.

The worst are continual updated delivery dates that are impossible to fulfill and nearly always 100% wrong. Even when it is "on a truck out for delivery" that day, you still only have a 50% chance of receiving it that day!

I find it very strange even some of you in the right mind would further investing $1200 to 1600 on a remote that's price is 6 to 7 times jacked up by stamping "Smart controller" no different than stamping " Organic " on food and charging 6 times more, what a greatest rip off.
**--** Knowing the company don't even stand behind its product and supports its customers ! !
B & H Photo has started dropping Autel products as they don't want their Loyal Customers Cheated
**--** Amazon should follow the same guide lines, too.
Demand service with a smile or drop Autel products for good to save your own reputation.

Dear Ajay,

all valued opinions you have there, especially the poor or slow support. In Germany for example Marcotec GmbH being a video and audio specialist dropped Autel for the same reasons. Then CamForPro filled their market gap. So there will always be a place near you to buy Autel Robotics stuff.

I also agree one might expect more smart features with such a name for an RC. But the name RC Pro is already claimed by the competition. So now for better understanding let's not call it a "smart" but a "brighter" RC.

We were first searching for a tablet with a sustained brightness of more than 1200 nits to support missions with flying times of at least 90 minutes or higher (being about 3 drone battery discharges as a minimum). Why the bright screen? To be able to better judge the camera feedback in daylight and have the DOP see details you don't see on a phone. That exact tablet serving all these needs does NOT really exist yet. With a chunky Tripltek tablet you get close to those parameters at about $800. However Tripltek also has no sales nor support in Germany.

Should we choose that option we would also have to add a tablet holder for about $20.

We would also need a backup controller, those are currently sold by Autel at $288.

Now do the math. These items all add up to $1108 in after sales. Suddenly paying the $1199 for the brighter RC with removable thumb sticks and extra HDMI output, while keeping the default controller as backup is not a bad price plan.

The brighter controller having an HDMI output extra, we didn't ask for, will for sure come in handy.

Personally I wanted my controller to have replaceable thumb sticks. Even if it sounds as a silly detail, that small fact alone was worth paying the remaining price difference of $91.

We don't regret investing those extra $ by adding the smart controller to our existing setup with all those cases, tripods, filters, receivers, transmitters and cables already bought to support the drone. The drone is a minor but present part in a bigger plan. The smart controller however has been a game changer.

The snowball effect is starting and B & H cutting down on Autel drones, Amazon don't need their loyal customers cheated either. I finally got a message from Autel to contact their customers support, seems all my messages and calling time after time fell on deaf ears ! !
I sent them another message to " Read My Previous Messages " No progress so far.
My Typhoon H remote with 7 inch LCD ST-16 with strap and Hood cost $300, now.

There was another company offering Remote with 5.5 inch LCD for $55 at Amazon.
I had mentioned about it sometime back.

did you just compare the secondhand outlet market to brand new hardware?

get me a brand new Typhoon H with a 1200+ nits bright controller, exchangeable thumb sticks, aux hdmi output, more than 30 minutes battery life, at a total of $ 2k with a world wide shipping and we are in business.

I find that quite useless information for Autel pilots that likely don't own a Yuneec Typhoon ;-)

To prove to you all A Super Smart Remote with 7 inch LCD, built-in Hood and shoulder strap and editing capabilities cost $300 then why such a great rip off from Autel $1200 to $1600 Pretty much the same price as the drone itself !
**--** Why encourage a company to fool us, who don't even stand behind their product and customers service Non Existent.
A. They conned us first by saying 40 minutes flying time when it was really 31 to 33 minutes.
B. The GPS fails to lock on for another 1 to 2 minutes and I find myself waving the remote with my hands raised up and walking around looking like a fool.
C. After getting the drone in the right location and ready to take a 12 picture Panorama suddenly the image on the LCD freezes and turns BW forcing me to abort the mission to simply Re-Boot before continuing !
D. A lot of time in cold weather I click on the 12 picture Panorama mode to " Go " Nothing happens at times.
Half the times the Panorama pictures are not captured.
E. I was forced to give up video capture due to Jerky Movements.

February 26th 2022.
I'm still waiting for an answer as how how I can get both my Autel EVO2 Pro to power up.

You want to encourage Autel to Rip us off then go ahead and further invest in this company.
* * I'm not on their payroll to cover up for Autel.

sorry you are having so much trouble with your drone. i'll be happy to take this "junk" off your hands so you can completely cut ties with them and put this in your rearview mirror. let me know where to send $100 to cover the shipping and handling and you can be done with them next week. /s

Greetings KenAutelEVO2Pro, you trying to cover up the serious issues with Autel drones will not solve those issues by buying my Autel EVO2 Pro's.
We all need to get united and force Autel to fix those simple but irritating issues that Autel choose to neglect and rip us off with half finished in-complete drones !
You trying to cover up is encouraging Autel to further look the other way and hurting this drone community.

Daer Ajay,

I really don't get why you are posting all these images in a discussion that is in fact only about the smart controllers availability. Also I don't get it why at this point you have not yet sold your Autel Evo 2 and bought a Typhoon H instead.

But since you are sharing your footage with us, I feel free to share some of mine. I think I get better images at night than you got there during daylight. Maybe don't blame the drone, nor the manufacturer, but rather investigate what you can do yourself to get better results.

Flying camera drones for me is:

1. being able to pilot the aircraft safely under all circumstances.
2. understanding the range and the limits of the camera you have mounted.
3. being able to to post process or have someone post process your material.

To rest my case, here's one of last night's video stills, captured from 4K footage, color graded in photoshop. downsized to 25%.

Furthermore you wrote you are still waiting for an answer on how you can get both your Autel EVO2 Pro to power up? Maybe post this topic as a new thread in this forum and not here in the discussion about availability of the controller.
