I am looking for a different monitor besides using my iPhone during flight. Can you use features like Orbit when using something like a table without cell service? My mobile hotspot on my phone is not working for some reason but did not know if you have to be connected to cell service for some features of the app to work.

you want a Galaxy 8, 9,10 or higher in the PLUS size screen. I never used orbit feature , i just fly by the sticks ..

most tablets iv'e used aren't bright enough to use without a hood.. what tablets do you reccommend?

Galaxy 9 plus can be had for $200 used and is super bright 1200 nits (no hood requires, less gear to fumble with) , while iPad mini 450nits, wont cut it at high noon

My Lenovo has a brightness control and on max, it will blind you. Lenovo Tab 10.1 HD No hood needed. Cheap too, compared to say a Surface Pro.

its only 405 nits rating, not bright enough for direct sunlight .
