I would fly . make sure to clean afterwards. Damp cloth for props and shell. Maybe compressed air if really concerned. I think it would be more of an issue with an ic engine or if there was grease to trap the particles and make a paste. I am not an engineer just an rc pilot with an interest.

Sorry I don't know. I would expect it resets each time it is initialised. I would check that there is no tape or stickers etc covering any of the vents on shell. Or take it back to supplier to be checked/replaced

Barometer could be faulty or somehow pressurized. I have had false readings on my RC gliders when changing direction in wind but only 10 or 20 metres not 100.

The altitude is set at takeoff, so is relative to takeoff point rather than actual ground level.

I had the same issue with the Samsung phone that I have solely for the drone. I roll back to previous app and problem solved. Not sure what the issue actually is but on my regular phone I run latest app and on drone phone I have previous one. No issues so far. (Touch wood)..

Not all cords are data capable. Some are just for charging.

Make sure cables are data capable. Some of them are only for charging and not wired for data

You could use almost any of the rec drones available by mounting the controller on a tripod or similar . A neck strap might work but I don't think it would be as easy to use. Basic movements would be easy enough and he could work on complex manoeuvres single handed.

Would setting a lower rth height stop it climbing as high, if that's what is happening?
