I'd say those batteries are swelling if the case is cracked. May be safer to just bin them and buy some new ones.

Illegal to fly in meadow lake? How do you figure?

Correct, the body of water you can fly over is called Meadow Lake. Given its the only area of the park you won't really find people walking about, that effectively becomes the flying field.
